Lou Pan d’Ici, the new baguette from the South created by our region’s farmers, millers, and bakers, was officially presented on Tuesday February 25th at the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region’s stand at the Salon International de l’Agriculture.
The Lou Pan d’Ici baguette is the result of an original, high-quality project that is 100% regional and one of its kind in France. The culinary endeavor has mobilized a broad range of stakeholders in the food and agricultural sector.
Supported by the Region Sud, the Lou Pan d’Ici project benefited from assistance from risingSUD within the framework of the Operations of Interest to the Region (OIR) strategic sector program. The OIR program has identified eight areas of economic excellence in the Sud region, and the Lou Pan d’Ici project is part of the Natural Living OIR that aims to make the region an international benchmark for natural products and quality foods.
The creation of a new local baguette represents a significant opportunity for the region. The project was facilitated by a unique support structure that brought together the regional bakers’ association (Fédération Régionale des Artisans Boulangers), the regional millers’ association (Association Régionale des Meuniers), and the national association of agricultural companies (Coop de France). After the project was presented to the Financial Engineering Committee for the OIRs, the Crédit Agricole bank, the Regional Chamber of Trades and Crafts, and the Region Sud agreed to provide financial support for this innovative initiative.
The Lou Pan d’Ici project participates in the movement to promote artisanal and craft industries and to encourage the diversity of food production while guaranteeing consumers quality production and traceability for one of the most revered French food items!
