A look back at BioFIT 2023

19 December 2023

On 12 and 13 December 2023, Marseille hosted the 12th edition of BioFIT, the international technology transfer event that fosters partnership opportunities for emerging biotechnologies.

Leading up to the event, the risingSUD team was mobilized on Monday December 11 to promote the biotech ecosystem that has been developed in part through the region’s Innovative Healthcare strategic sector program. On this occasion, an international delegation of eight representatives from the healthcare sector visited the BioParc and health technology ecosystem in Sophia Antipolis as well as the AP-HM hospital network in Marseille.

The day’s program to discover the ecosystem began at the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport Business Centre with a presentation of the Eurobiomed healthtech cluster by Alexandra BELTOISE, followed by an introduction to current healthcare projects and strategies by Sana BOUYAHIA from the Team Nice Côte d’Azur economic development agency, and a first-hand account of doing business in the South of France from Fabien ASTIC, co-founder of ExactCure.

Thanks to a project coordinated by Patricia LAY of the Sophia Antipolis foundation, the delegation was then welcomed at the Sophia Antipolis BioParc by Annette MASSIAS of Syneos Health, Pierre DIEBOLT of NUVISAN, and Yaël BERTON of Cutiss Innovation.

In the afternoon, the delegation headed for Marseille to tour the AP-HM Biogenopôle for innovative biology services with Bruno LACARELLE, as well as the IHU Méditerranée Infection center for infectious diseases directed by Pierre-Edouard FOURNIER. There was also time for discussions with the teams working at the IHU Méditerranée to learn more about their current projects. The day ended with a guided tour of the DocCity healthcare and medtech hub with Gilles LASSERRE and Thomas ALSTON.

Alongside Marie-Françoise CARTELLA and Jérôme LEGALLOIS from the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, the risingSUD team was present at the stand run by the Eurobiomed competitiveness cluster at BioFIT  to promote projects from the Innovative Healthcare and Silver Economy strategic sectors.

risingSUD also organized a dozen targeted business meetings with companies in the healthcare sector who may be considering setting up in the South of France.

BioFIT has provided risingSUD and its partners* with an opportunity to showcase the expertise and talent of the South of France!
