A look back at the BIO International Convention 2024

From June 2 to 6, risingSUD was present alongside the Eurobiomed cluster at the head of a regional delegation of companies* that travelled to San Diego, California for the BIO International Convention.

A must-attend biotechnology trade fair, the BIO International Convention brought together more than 20 000 global leaders in the sector and facilitated nearly 60 000 networking meetings that generated new opportunities and created promising partnerships.

The French companies formed the largest international business delegation at the event, and the Marseille-based Eurobiomed life sciences cluster proudly represented the region at its stand and showcased the vibrant biotechnology ecosystem in the South of France.

For several years now, risingSUD has been supporting regional companies at this iconic trade fair, helping them expand internationally and promoting the South of France as a destination for investment in innovative therapies.

During the show, the regional stand was honoured to welcome the French Consul General in Los Angeles, Julie DUHAUT-BEDOS, who had the opportunity to meet with regional companies. Lise ALTER, the Director General of the AIS, France’s national health innovation agency,  was also on hand to promote the France 2030 plan for investments in the health sector.

Thanks to the cooperation partnership between Euriobiomed and the biotech clusters in California (BIOCOM) and Japan (LINKJ), risingSUD could present its support services and opportunities in the South of France to members of these international clusters at a promotional event. This strengthened connections between the territories and created more synergies for regional companies wishing to develop in the USA and Japan.

In addition, with the support of the San Diego French American Chamber of Commerce, 15 selective prospecting meetings were organised, and a large number of companies were identified as being interested in developing a project in the South of France.

Prior to the trade show, the pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson organised an influential event bringing together around 50 promising biotech companies. This was another opportunity for risingSUD to promote the healthcare ecosystem in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
