A look back on the trade mission to Morocco and GITEX AFRICA 2025
24 April 2025To support the expansion of regional businesses into markets across the southern Mediterranean and to encourage reciprocal investment in the South of France, the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region is increasing its number of international trade missions.
As part of this initiative, risingSUD and the Region Sud, in partnership with Business France, International Boost, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco, and with the support of the Africalink tech network, organised an economic mission to Morocco from April 14 to 16.
Thanks to an exceptional itinerary, eight regional companies benefited from outstanding networking events and personalised support to help them develop their businesses in Morocco.
This mission provided several highlights and helped strengthen the economic relations between the business ecosystem in the South of France and its Moroccan partners. Among the key events:
- High-level meetings with Trixie LOHMIRMAND, Executive Vice-President of the Dubai World Trade Centre, and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE).
- A session at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University to meet and exchange ideas with the Moroccan talent of the future.
- Exclusive networking opportunities alongside Christophe LECOURTIER (French Ambassador to Morocco), Stéphane BAUMGARTH (French Consul General in Marrakech), and Audrey BRUN RABUEL (Managing Director of risingSUD). Another important event for the regional mission was an Africalink evening hosted by Abdelaziz TAARIJI (Vice-President of ASMEX, the Moroccan confederation of exporters).
- Eight regional companies participated in GITEX AFRICA 2025, Africa’s largest tech and start-up show: DIGDASH, MYCOPHYTO, ORAMA-System, DataGreen, OOTENTIK, EXCO, SMARTBOX INDUSTRY, and HELIOCLIM.
- A visit to ISMALA (the institute of aeronautical professions) with the GIMAS (the Moroccan air and space industries group) and the AMC (Aerospace Moroccan Cluster) in the presence of the President of risingSUD, Bernard KLEYNHOFF, Regional Councillor representing Renaud MUSELIER, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, Deputy President of Régions de France.
- A meeting between Chakib ALJ, President of the CGEM (Moroccan business federation), and Bernard KLEYNHOFF forged new connections with new Moroccan companies.
By carrying out this new mission, the risingSUD team was able to confirm and enhance ties with the Moroccan business ecosystem and the broader Mediterranean economy.
In association with the Africa-France Forum on Ecological and Energy Transition, the regional delegation then flew to Tunisia... To be continued!
