Brazil welcomed at the 2024 edition of the Festival de Cannes

On May 15, risingSUD, in partnership with the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, welcomed a delegation of 21 Brazilian companies from the audiovisual sector, which were accompanied by the Brazilian economic and creative development agencies Investe Sao Paulo, Cinema do Brasil, and CreativeSP.

The reception of the Brazilian delegation was part of risingSUD’s programme to facilitate investment opportunities between Brazil and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, and to strengthen the Cultural and Creative Industries strategic sector in the South of France.

Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is France’s 2nd-largest region in terms of studio space, with more than 12 000 square metres of shooting facilities (22% of the national total). With more than 5000 filming days per year, the audiovisual industry in the South of France generates around €200 million in economic spin-offs.

Alongside events associated with the Festival de Cannes, the Brazilian delegation also visited the Victorine studios as part of a programme organised in partnership with the Team Nice Côte d’Azur economic development agency. The Brazilian companies were able to learn about the diverse business opportunities and projects that are underway thanks to the €54-billion France 2030 national investment plan.

The delegation’s itinerary also included a number of other highlights. Among them, the French national film commission gave the Brazilian companies the opportunity to take part in meetings held at the Région Sud stand at the Festival de Cannes to help promote and expand the cinema sector in the South of France.

As a result of the visit, a number of Brazilian companies expressed an interest in developing projects in the South of France.
