
Regional expertise in the spotlight at the SIAL 2024 international food trade fair
16 October 2024From 19 to 23 October, the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region and risingSUD participated in the Salon International de l’Alimentation (SIAL) in Paris as the food innovation trade show celebrated the 60th anniversary of its founding.
Held under the patronage of French President Emmanuel MACRON, this key event brought together the world’s leading stakeholders in the food industry, including almost 7500 exhibitors representing more than 130 countries.
This biennial event serves as a platform for innovation and trade and this edition focussed on the theme of embracing change in the food sector.
A delegation from the South of France, led by the ARIA Sud regional association of food industries in partnership with the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region and risingSUD, showcased the excellence and expertise of regional companies.
The regional pavilion featured 13 emblematic companies that represent the best of the food sector in the South of France: François Doucet Confiseur, Château Calissanne, Dragées Reynaud, Ferrigno, Corsiglia SA, Méditea, Biscuiterie de Provence, Conserverie Au Bec Fin, Confit de Provence, Savor Créations, Le Comptoir de Mathilde, Semoulerie de Bellevue – Panzani, and Un Air d’Ici.
These companies reflect the diversity and quality of the region’s products while combining tradition and innovation. They play a vital role in promoting and enhancing Provence’s international reputation for quality and gourmet food.
As part of the trade fair, 24 regional companies took part in B2B meetings with some 230 buyers that were organised by Business France and the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). The goal is to help the companies expand internationally and boost the economic appeal of the region.
In addition, on Tuesday October 22, Bénédicte MARTIN, the Vice-President of the Region Sud in charge of Agriculture, Viticulture, Rural Areas, and Gastronomy, met the exhibiting regional companies as well as other key stakeholders in the agri-food sector during a series of strategic meetings.
At the national ceremony for the ALIM'ACTEURS awards for best HR practices in the agri-food industry, the Avignon-based beverage companyLÖKKI was recognised in the Quality of Life and Working Conditions (QLWC) category and received the “Jury’s Favourite” trophy.
