29 April 2024

Hosting the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in France goes far beyond the organisation of a sporting event. It's an extraordinary opportunity to boost the country's economic development and enhance its global tourism appeal.

More than 9.7 million people are expected to attend events in France, not to mention the billions who will be watching on television.

On May 8, the Olympic flame will arrive by sea at the Vieux Port in Marseille! The Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region will host the first stages of the official torch relay as this global symbol of peace and unity makes its way around France prior to the official opening of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This summer, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur will host all the sailing events at the marina in Marseille from July 28 to August 8, as well as 16 football matches at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille and the Allianz Riviera in Nice. This great Olympic celebration will be an international showcase for the South of France.

risingSUD, the economic development agency for the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, will also be taking part in this flagship event. By welcoming French and international delegations and promoting the region’s different territories and business ecosystems, the agency will ensure the South of France shines on the world stage.
