2024 is starting strong at risingSUD! 

In January, the risingSUD was delighted to welcome four international delegations who came to learn more about the region's economic advantages, development opportunities, quality of life, and business ecosystem in the context of possible investments in the territory. 

In partnership with Connect’Innov, risingSUD welcomed eight Tunisian companies* from the health tech sector on 16 January 2024. They were able to discover the regional healthcare ecosystem, the Enterprise Europe Network network and the various national and regional programs and subsidies that support business and job creation in the South of France.

From January 16 to 18, 2024, a group of three Japanese companies interested in assessing the French market for oncology drugs also met with the agency.  One of the companies, specialising in the packaging of controlled pharmaceuticals that may pose a risk to users, had already been in contact with risingSUD through Business France North East Asia during a mission to Japan in October 2023. Meetings with the AP-HM public university hospital system in Marseille, the Institut Paoli-Calmettes, the Eurobiomed healthcare cluster, and the Consul General of Japan in Marseille, Yukuo MURATA, were organized to pursue discussions and define the companies' future projects in the region.

In addition, risingSUD welcomed a delegation from SLS, an organization of Canadian shipping operators, to the 6th edition of the EUROMARITIME blue economy trade show, which was held in Marseille from January 30 to February 1, 2024. They were able to meet their counterparts from Corsica Linea, as well as the Regional Councillor Christophe MADROLLE,  and all the key regional stakeholders participating in the trade show, such as the Pôle Mer Méditerranée blue economy cluster, the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, and the Port of Marseille Fos.

Finally, on February 2, a "Roadshow" day was organized for international companies and institutions. On the program: a visit to the Port of Marseille Fos and the Business Club sequence at the Toulon rugby club’s Campus RCT  with François de CANSON (President of the Comité Régional de Tourisme, Vice-President of the Région Sud and Mayor of La Londe-les-Maures) and Marie-Cécile TARDIEU (Invest Managing Director of Business France).

On the occasion of the France-Ireland Six Nations match in Marseille, a networking event for Irish companies was organised by Networkirlande at the Club Pernot Ricard. This event featured the  presence of Jennifer CARROLL MACNEILL, the  Minister of State at the Irish Department of Finance, His Excellency Niall BURGESS, the Irish Ambassador to France, and almost two dozen companies operating in the region.

Thanks to the support of all its partners, risingSUD's hosting of the four international delegations was an enormous success and proved once again that the South of France is a great place for business and innovation!
