20 June 2024

On Wednesday June 19, the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region was given the prestigious “Regional Innovation Valley” label by the European Commission in the “Reducing Dependence on Fossil Fuels” category.

The distinction recognizes the region’s excellence in research and innovation and its success in boosting the development of pioneering businesses in the green economy.

This success results from the Sud Region’s commitment to focusing its investment and its research and innovation policies on the climate and the environment, its willingness to collaborate on innovative projects with other European regions, and its myriad of initiatives to enhance its research and innovation ecosystem.

With four universities and 23 000 researchers and research professors in public- and private-sector laboratories, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur has a world-class scientific ecosystem with expertise in a wide range of disciplines.

The forthcoming adoption of a strategic roadmap dedicated to the region’s artificial intelligence sector will further accelerate the Region Sud’s work to promote and support the territory’s innovation ecosystem.

We want to make the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region a land of excellence, knowledge, boldness, and innovation in the service of economic growth and jobs,” said Renaud MUSELIER, the President of the Region Sud and the Deputy President of Régions de France.
